Hollyoaks confirms tragedy as lives are changed forever in Summer trailer
It’s going to be a summer to remember in Hollyoaks as the long-awaited return of village queen Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) is almost upon us – and it’s safe to say she makes her presence felt.
Much like in the real world amid this heatwave, things are heating up in the eponymous village this summer, with a number of big stories set to reach a dramatic peak.
With several returns on the cards, lives on the line and a dilemmas aplenty, it’s sure to be a summer to end all summers.
Ahead of the scenes to come, Hollyoaks has released a brand new trailer and it certainly looks like fans are in for some big twists in the approaching weeks.

Cindy returns with a bang!
Hollyoaks just hasn’t been the same without our legendary show queen but thankfully we needn’t fret any longer as Cindy is back – and she’s feistier than ever!
The popular character’s return gets all the tongues wagging but just what is she back for? That is the question, but it’s clear that Beth (Rebecca Ryan) isn’t keen about her comeback and thus she stumbles over her history with Cindy, which piques Nancy’s (Jessica Fox) interest.
Events from the past are a topic of hot discussion but it’s also time for looking towards the future, with Cindy having a brand new flatmate in the form of newcomer Abigail (Brooke Vincent).
Abigail’s big secret
Abigail lands a job at Hollyoaks High, much to the shock of Dee Dee, who crossed paths with her when she was a drug counsellor.
It doesn’t take long for Abigail, who has seemingly no connections to the village, to become popular with everyone – and very much becomes the centre of village life. But she’s soon smashing up the bathroom in a violent rage – why?

It’s not just Cindy that takes the village by storm, with the trailer confirming the return of fan-favourites James Nightingale and Lucas Hay.
With James last seen pleading with Ste to choose him over Rex and Lucas behind bars after taking Ste hostage over his shock affair with Dillon, the two characters no doubt have unfinished business with Ste – so how will he react to their comebacks?
Tony’s struggles as school is out
The teens are eager to enjoy their summer as school wraps after their exams. Tony, however, struggles to keep them all in check as his grief for Diane remains all encompassing.
Imran and Leah prepare to say ‘I Do’ – as secrets spill out
Leah struggles to resist Prince and risks her relationship with fiancé Imran in order to seduce him ahead of their wedding. Misbah Maalik, meanwhile, questions Leah’s motives while Vicky has her heart broken when she finds out the truth, with friendships soon unravelling.
Dodger’s choice
Dodger, who is in a relationship with Theresa but cheating with Cleo, makes a choice in upcoming scenes, telling Cleo that she is the one.
That is, until upset strikes amid a raid with Donny. Will Dodger be okay? And will he and Cleo make a proper go of things? What’s more, how will Theresa react when all is revealed?
