Kit taken down in Coronation Street murder scandal after he pushes his luck too far

DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has been left in a difficult position in Coronation Street after learning that girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) killed Theo Silverton.

Viewers will recall that Sarah hit Theo with a metal bar, and he died after falling from the top of his scaffolding as a result of the blow.

In recent scenes, Sarah has struggled to hold it together in the aftermath of her actions, and the big secret came bursting out just as Kit got down on one knee to propose.

Now, Kit has to choose between saving his girlfriend or his career. According to actor Jacob Roberts, Kit has no issue putting himself first.

‘He will protect her as much as he can, but Kit is ultimately going to protect himself first,’ he explained. ‘He suddenly realises he’s been living with a murderer right under his nose. He isn’t going to be totally selfless here – he will only protect her as long as his own career is safe.

‘His perspective is very much: “If you had told me this straight away, I could have done something about it. Now, I’m just left to pick up the pieces.”’

Still, in next week’s episodes, Kit does what he can to find out information related to the case, though when he quizzes DC McLaughlin (Michelle Tate), all he does is make her suspicious.

Later that day, Sarah is arrested for Theo’s murder, despite Kit having previously assured her that Gary Windass (Mikey North) seemed to be the prime suspect.

The next day, as Sarah faces interrogation, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) pulls Kit into the office and warns him that they think he is also involved in Theo’s murder.

When Sarah is charged, Lisa urges Kit to stop trying to protect her, pointing out the risk to his career, but will he heed her advice?

‘There is no way he’s listening to Swain after everything that happened with Becky,’ Jacob insisted. ‘When Lisa completely dropped the ball and thought Carla was just away on holiday and was moving away with Becky, Kit was the one who actually found Carla. He didn’t just do his job, he went above and beyond to protect her and the people she cares about.

‘So for Swain to turn around, go completely behind his back and arrest Sarah without so much as a courtesy heads-up? It’s a massive slap in the face.’

Could Kit end up facing consequences for keeping quiet about Sarah’s confession?
