Devastated Betsy accused of cheating in Coronation Street ordeal as horrible accusation is made

A desperate Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) and Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) have accused Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) of cheating in the aftermath of her suffering multiple strokes.
A couple of days ago, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) found Betsy on the floor in the kitchen. In the hospital, Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) and Carla (Alison King) discovered that Betsy had experienced a stroke.
The youngster then suffered another one. After some tests, Lisa and Carla learnt that Betsy’s ordeal was caused by a blood clot which was the result of neck artery damage from a temporary loss of circulation.
Betsy then revealed that Dylan strangled her during consensual sex, with both believing the pressure applied was minimal.

Believing there was no other option, Lisa headed to the police station to report Dylan. In today’s episode, the teen was questioned.
When he returned, Dylan was faced with a panicked Sean, who had no idea that his son had been at the station. Dylan maintained the view that he wasn’t responsible for putting Betsy in hospital, due to the time difference between her first stroke and them having sex.
Sean suggested that Betsy slept with someone else in this period, and that this person caused the stroke.
The father and son accused Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) of sleeping with Betsy. Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) heard about Sean and Dylan’s theory, and later told her friend.
The Stroke Association charity states that a stroke may not occur immediately after the event. In fact, medical evidence shows it can happen days, weeks, or even months after the initial compression of the neck.
It means that as much as Dylan is in denial and trying to blame someone else, the pressure he put on Betsy’s neck during sex is the reason she’s had the strokes.
To ensure the narrative’s medical accuracy and raise critical awareness of the risks associated with strangulation, Coronation Street worked closely with the Institute for Addressing Strangulation (IFAS), The Stroke Association and Safeline.
The storyline comes as a recent study conducted by IFAS revealed that of over 4,100 young adults (aged 16-34), over 55% have either been strangled or strangled someone else during sex.
The data highlights that non-fatal strangulation is a significant risk for young adults, with high prevalence reported among the 16-20 age group, demonstrating that the potential for hidden injury is widespread and frequently misunderstood.
