EastEnders’ George haunted by familiar face following Eddie’s murder
EastEnders’ George Knight (Colin Salmon) has been wrestling with his guilt over his father Eddie Knight’s (Christopher Fairbank) death for the last few months – but next week, it all gets too much when a face from his past suddenly appears.
Racist murderer Eddie made a surprise reappearance on the BBC soap earlier this year when it was revealed he was dying of lung cancer and would be released from prison early.
He then manipulated George’s partner Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) into letting him move into No.1 with their family to see out his last days.
While a dying Eddie claimed to have changed his ways, his true colours were later exposed when he made vile remarks about his granddaughter Gina Knight (Francesca Henry).
When George confronted him, it led to an ugly showdown, during which Eddie started choking.
As he begged for help, George coolly watched his evil adopted father die, putting an end to the decades of misery and discrimination Eddie had put him through.
Since then, George has kept quiet about the role he had to play in Eddie’s final moments, and has also decided not to bury him with his late adoptive mother Gloria Knight (Elizabeth Counsell).
In scenes to air on the BBC soap next week, however, a mysterious old acquaintance appears and makes him start to question this decision.
As George is conflicted about what to do, tensions also flare between him and Nicola, with his ex-wife Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) both stepping in to try and mend relations between them.
Struggling with his guilt, George visits Gloria’s grave, where Eve Panesar-Unwin (Heather Peace) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) find him drunk, and he and Eve eventually open up to one another.
Meanwhile, Nicola is worried about George and enlists the help of her son Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) to get him to Harry’s Barn.
When George eventually arrives, the pair finally sit down to talk, and Nicola probes the source of his guilt, leading her to open up about her own past.
With Nicola having a killer secret of her own, will the couple reconcile or be driven further apart?
