All over for Sarah in Coronation Street as staggering confessions and discoveries spell the end

Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) carefully constructed house of cards has come crashing down in recent Coronation Street scenes, after a damning piece of evidence led the police to her door in the investigation into Theo Silverton’s murder.
Theo was killed earlier this year, and it was later revealed that Sarah was the culprit, having knocked him off the scaffolding outside his flat with a metal pipe during a confrontation.
She immediately called on Gary Windass (Mikey North) for help, and he advised her on how to proceed while he disposed of the murder weapon.
In the weeks that followed, they tried their best to cover their tracks, but the pressure proved too much for them on several occasions.
When Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) got down on one knee to propose, Sarah blurted out the truth to the detective. He has since gone out of his way to try to cover her tracks, but has raised suspicions among his colleagues about his own involvement.
Earlier this week, Sarah was arrested for Theo’s murder, after his blood was found on the outfit she’d been wearing that night.
In tonight’s episode, the secret spread even further, as Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) found proof that Gary had been lying to her.
After spotting him in the background of one of Sally Metcalfe’s (Sally Webster) selfies from the night of the murder, she demanded that he tell her the truth.
Backed into a corner, he came clean about how he’d helped Sarah by disposing of the murder weapon and helping with her alibi.
Maria was understandably furious – and she wasn’t the only one.
Elsewhere on the cobbles, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) was also grappling with Sarah’s secret, as Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) speculated about her arrest.
Unable to hide the truth any longer, Todd told Summer what he knew. Viewers will recall that Sarah came clean to Todd several weeks ago, leaving him in a difficult position. Although he agreed not to tell the police, he ended his friendship with Sarah.
Summer was understandably hurt that Todd had chosen to stay quiet for so long, given that she had originally been charged with Theo’s murder, but ultimately forgave him.
Now, with even more people in on the big murder secret, is Sarah at risk of someone slipping up and sealing her fate?
In tonight’s episode, Kit urged her to admit that it was self-defence, but Sarah refused to risk Gary’s freedom after he came to her aid. Will she regret not taking Kit’s advice to get ahead of the narrative?
