Sean Wilson tied the knot with his partner of 10 years at an intimate family ceremony in the countryside.

The former Coronation Street star, who played Martin Platt throughout the 80s and 90s, wore a navy blue suit with an orange waistcoat for the big day.

He and new wife Carol shared a kiss outside the church as their loved ones threw confetti and cheered.

The pair then jumped into a cream vintage car, beaming as they drove off into the metaphorical sunset.

‘Guess what we did this weekend… a July wedding,’ Sean, 61, wrote on social media, sharing snaps from the big day.

‘Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson… We had a gospel choir, and a church full of legendary (real) friends…’ he added, throwing some shade.

‘If we did it all again, it couldn’t be better. Xxx.’

The actor-turned-cheesemaker was suddenly booted from Corrie despite being set to return to the soap, to tie in with Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) exit storyline.

The scenes were set to play out over the autumn but in August, it was reported that the actor had ‘stepped down for personal reasons’.

He had reportedly already been on set and filmed sections before his axing, which he has not spoken about since.

A source then told The Sun: ‘It has come as a complete and utter shock to everyone – and his sudden exit has rocked everyone involved with Corrie.’

They claimed he was having a great time on the show, which he had starred in from 1985 to 2005, and was popular on set.

‘He had filmed scenes with loads of the cast,’ they continued. ‘But then suddenly he was summoned to head office, and later it filtered out he wouldn’t be returning or his scenes airing, but no explanation was offered.

‘Clearly it’s a major blow for bosses who must now find a new magical and happy ending for Helen – but they are confident they’ll pull it out of the bag, and give viewers something wonderful.’

His part in Gail’s final plot was fulfilled by comedian and actor John Thomson, who reprised his role as Jesse Chadwick after 14 years.

Sean later returned to social media for the first time, sharing a cryptic picture on X with ‘Xx’ as the caption, not revealing much about his time away.

He then followed it up with a more descriptive message to his followers, uploading a picture that featured a LOVE light display, he wrote alongside: ‘Thanks for all the love xxx’.
