EastEnders court violence erupts as Ian Beale is jailed

Ian Beale’s fate may have had a mixed reaction among EastEnders fans – let’s face it, you either love or hate the guy – but Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) is absolutely not sitting on the fence.
Adam Woodyatt’s character is heading behind bars for eight months, and I can only imagine how poorly he might handle prison life.
And it all feels somewhat unjust. He didn’t see young Jordan when reversing and, Chelsea Fox knows deep down that she bears some blame for the incident, given she yelled at Jordan and walked away.
Addressing Chelsea’s guilt over this, actress Zaraah Abrahams said: ‘She has been overwhelmed. She believes she played a part in what happened for shouting at Jordan and not keeping an eye on him and has struggled with her decision to stay silent.
‘While coping with Denise’s diagnosis and focusing on Jordan’s recovery, she’s been torn between supporting her son and facing the truth, knowing Ian has carried all of the blame.
‘Chelsea’s own guilt has been building for a long time, and conversations with her family only strengthen her feeling that she can’t keep the secret any longer.
‘With Jordan recovering well, she sees a chance to put things right and potentially help Ian.’

This would have been great news for Ian, who had pleaded with her for help.
Unfortunately, Chelsea was too late to court to intervene in the sentencing and Ian is now officially a convict, staring at eight months of porridge that will make him yearn for his mum’s caff.
And said mum is disgusted with Chelsea. A court reels from the sentence, and Chelsea’s realisation that she now can’t do anything prompts a rant and a stinging slap from Kathy.
And no one doles them our better than her, so it’s bound to be a stinger.
Ian is led down to the cells where it’s highly unlikely he stands a chance of becoming top dog.

But he isn’t the only one left in a bad place. As well as a throbbing cheek, Chelsea has a crushing guilt to deal with, as well as the ongoing trauma of Denise’s (Diane Parish) battle with cancer.
And, what she has yet to discover is Sheila’s (Sheila Ruskin) secret plan with Gray Atkins (Toby Alexander-Smith) which plants Jordan right at the centre.
Jailed man to the left of her, jailed man to the right – and neither problem will be an issue to solve.
Confirming more trouble to come, Zaraah added: ‘Viewers can expect an emotional rollercoaster, with plenty of twists and turns ahead.
