Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe confirms Mercedes’ future on show
She debuted in the role in 2006.

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has no intention of leaving the soap as she weighed in on her future on the show. The star has been playing Mercedes McQueen for two decades and has remained a Hollyoaks regular despite the soap’s major changes.
Asked about whether she’d want to stay on the Channel 4 series, Metcalfe had no doubt. In a recent chat with the Daily Mail, the actor acknowledged the big overhauls, but reiterated her love for the show.

“Each year everything changes and Hollyoaks have been great, and they sort of change with me and accommodate around my lifestyle. I do love it there, but who knows,” she said.
Mercedes has had a dramatic time on the soap since Hollyoaks returned in 2024 with a time jump. The character was diagnosed with bowel cancer and underwent chemotherapy, as well as surgery to fit a stoma and a colonoscopy bag.
Her romantic life has also been a rollercoaster as she’s been involved in a love triangle with Warren Fox, who shockingly returned to the village after having faked his own death, and his brother Jenson Cole.
Things took a turn for Warren last week after Jenson failed to show up for Sebastian Blake’s bone marrow transplant. Warren’s ex Gemma Johnson had taken Jenson hostage for allegedly stealing one of the crypto wallets, unaware that it had in fact been taken by Warren.

Having secured another match for Sebastian in Dodger Savage, Warren had no reason to keep Jenson around. He shot him twice as a horrified Prince McQueen watched on, though the soap had another twist in store for viewers.
Warren had no clue he had just been set up by Gemma, who wanted to show Jenson that his brother was using him for Sebastian’s surgery. Jenson was revealed to be alive and well, with Warren shooting Gemma’s thug Billy, who had switched clothes with Jenson.
Determined to make his rekindled relationship with Mercedes work, Warren has kept Mercedes in the dark about Jenson’s ‘death’ and even made Prince promise he’d keep quiet in scenes that aired last night.
