The aftermath of Joel Marshall’s (Max Murray) attack puts Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) in the spotlight next week in EastEnders.

The troublesome teen returned to Walford a few weeks ago after spending time in a young offenders unit. He had plans to stay with mum Cleo (Mazz Murray), but she dumped her son back with dad Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw).

Shortly after his comeback Joel was set upon in the park by a bunch of local teens, who wanted to show him just how unwelcome he was in Albert Square following his release from prison.

Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) had invited Joel to the park on the day in question but he was soon targeted by Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), Amy, Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman), Ricky (Frankie Day), Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) and Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega), who tied him up and poured beer over him, recording the incident on their phones.

After leaving him chained to a fence for 45 minutes, the teens went to retrieve Joel, only to discover that he’d been untied and attacked, left for dead with a serious head injury.

Newcomer DC Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) has been leading the investigation, but is also busy crossing all sorts of professional boundaries with Amy.

Next week, while the teen panics about something in private, Craig is suspended from public duty policing after his superior reveals that a serious compaint has been made against him.

Craig also learns that he’ll be taken off the Joel case.

In the week, Craig’s concerning dynamic with Amy sees him support the overwhelmed young woman. Prior to their meeting, Amy has a run-in with Joel which Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) riles at her for.

During their chat, Craig promises to be there for Amy, and she’s grateful.

Amy then faces more trouble when Ross approaches her after discovering that she wasn’t kind to Joel.

Ross’ anger further grows when Craig lets him know that he’s coming off the case. Ross stands up to Joel for Amy, and later invites him to join his and Vicki’s movie night.

What will next week’s developments mean for Amy?

If she is feeling isolated, could it lead her closer to Craig?
