Emmerdale star teases DS Ramsden and Serena’s plan for the Tates as she explains link
EXCLUSIVE Emmerdale's Serena Sugden actress Casey Al-Shaqsy has teased her character's secret plan against the Tates with DS Thea Ramsden, with it clear the pair know each other well
Serena Sugden and DS Thea Ramsden are linked on Emmerdale – and they’re covering up a secret plan against the Tates.
As Monday’s episode confirmed that the pair are close and are targeting Kim Tate, Serena actress Casey Al-Shaqsy spoke exclusively to the Mirror about what’s ahead. She teased some “interesting” twists and turns, as she explained Serena and Thea’s link.
While remaining coy over why the pair are targeting the Tates, she said Monday’s scenes are just the very start of the huge plot. During Monday’s episode we found out Serena and Thea are much closer than they had made out.
Casey told us that the pair are best friends, while she also confirmed that Thea is the mystery person Serena has been working for. With Serena breaking into Home Farm and looking for dirt on the Tates, Casey confirmed it was Thea on the other end of the phone in recent scenes.

Thea wants dirt on the Tates, especially Kim, and she told Serena: “‘Get me what I need on Kim Tate so I can finally bring her down.”
So, Thea is out to get Kim, and is after the Tates, but why? And why is Serena helping her? What do they have planned? It’s clear they want some sort downfall for Kim, and Thea’s choice of words implies it’s something she’s been thinking about for a long time.
So with Ramsden being a detective and Serena also in the police force previously, are they trying to get the Tates exposed for their crimes and sent to prison? Is anyone else helping them?
Casey shared: “I think it’ll be exciting for the fans to understand her relationship with Thea. I think it’s a very classic one. It’s one that you will see anywhere. It’s a best friendship.”
Teasing huge scenes ahead, she went on: “You should stay tuned because it’s going to conclude into something very interesting and a lot of exciting things are coming up. I’m a part of everything, it seems Serena likes to have her hands and fingers in all pies.
“But it’s a very, very, very cool, good, interesting storyline that’s coming up, and this is the start of it, so you need to tune in.” Speaking to Mirror and other press about the plot with Ramsden, Casey teased further what the pair are plotting.
She said: “The secret person I’ve been texting has been her. They are very, very close friends, she is one of my best friends in the world. Serena’s sort of journey into the village was to see her family.
“She does want to get closer with her family, but, you know, she’s mentioned to her best mate, ‘Oh, I’m going to Emmerdale,’ and Thea’s gone, ‘Ha! I need you to do me a favour!’
“So while all the drama’s happening with her own life, she is then doing her own Serena way and is looking out for somebody else and trying to get all this information for her. Obviously, we can’t get into why yet.”
