Emmerdale’s Olivia Bromley addresses Dawn ‘exit’ as she teases action-packed stunts
EXCLUSIVE As a dramatic wedding approaches on Emmerdale, Dawn Taylor actress Olivia Bromley has teased whether she is leaving the show amid an escape plan with Billy Fletcher
Joe Tate and Dawn Taylor’s lavish wedding ends in tragedy next week on Emmerdale.
“There’s going to be some really beautiful, loving moments,” says Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn. “But there’s also going to be chaos, stunts, twists and turns.”
Pregnant Dawn is torn between marrying villain Joe, and running away with her ex-husband Billy Fletcher. Olivia, 30, says: “Dawn should have chosen Billy all along, and I think everybody feels the same. The problem is, she’s in love with Joe.
“She really loves the wrong man. It would be so simple if she had just stayed with Billy, she’s got these beautiful children and if they could just run off into the sunset. That’s what I want for her.”
As the wedding approaches next week, Dawn and Billy plot to escape the village with the help of Billy’s boss Caleb Miligan [Will Ash]. Caleb has his own feud with Joe, though, and he uses Dawn and Billy’s dilemma to take his revenge.
Olivia warns Billy and Dawn could be in danger as Joe finds out what they are planning. She says: “There’s a lot at stake. She’s got her children, she’s got her family, and she’s going to just do a runaway on the day of the wedding. She thinks Joe has the capability of trying to kill someone.”
On whether Dawn and Billy will get their happy ending, Olivia teases: “Every time she gets so close to having it, and then somehow sabotages it, but she’s also been dealt a very rough hand time and time again.”
Olivia loved filming the action-packed episodes. She says: “It’s been really fun and really exciting, because this has been a big block of filming all over summer.
“So, we’ve been doing a 5-week shoot, which is not what we usually do. We’ve had loads of stunts, and a really good crew. Even when choosing Dawn’s wedding outfit, we had various things to work around in this storyline.
“I can’t say too much but a lot of stuff happens. It’s not a simple wedding day, and it involves a lot of action, so we had to think about that with the costumes as well.”
On the day of the wedding, Joe’s father figure Graham Foster [Andrew Scarborough] will catch Dawn plotting her escape. As he attempts to stop her, Dawn attacks him before tying him up.
Olivia explains that Dawn refuses to let anyone risk her future with Billy away from the village. She tells us: “I would say Dawn is really full of grit and power in this storyline, and she’s very determined to get what she wants. Don’t underestimate her.”
Dawn is unaware at this point that Caleb is about to tell Joe everything, but Olivia says the truth about Billy’s attack could change everything. Viewers know that Billy was attacked by Kev Townsend [Chris Coghill] during a robbery at the depot.
Depot boss Caleb hid the evidence so that he could frame Joe for the crime. With Dawn only fleeing because of her belief that Joe hurt Billy, Olivia tells us that the truth would change everything.
Olivia says: “She doesn’t want to leave Joe. She deeply loves this man. She can’t stand the fact that Billy has been hurt by him, because she also cares so much for Billy.
“If it wasn’t Joe, she wouldn’t make that choice at all. She wouldn’t leave with his child, she wouldn’t run away with her children, and she wouldn’t leave Kim [Tate].”
