Exclusive: Hollyoaks’ Warren and Mercedes in grave danger in Gemma and Jenson plot

Hollyoaks legends Jennifer Metcalfe and Jamie Lomas have exclusively revealed that their characters, Mercedes McQueen and Warren Fox, will face extreme peril as their enemies, Jenson Cole and Gemma Johnson, seek to destroy them.
In this week’s episodes, Warren confessed to Mercedes that he had shot dead his half-brother, Jenson, unaware that he was alive and well. Mercedes eventually forgave her partner, before Jenson made his shock return at Leah and Imran’s ill-fated wedding.

Subsequently, Jenson was unmasked to viewers as an undercover cop gathering evidence on his supposed sibling and gang boss Gemma – and the plot thickened even further when Gemma ordered Jenson to get rid of Mercedes, owing to her romantic jealousy over Warren.
It remains to be seen how far Jenson and Gemma will go in their efforts to bring down Warren, though Jamie noted: “Gemma is gunning for Warren and I think she’ll do anything to get at him.”
“And Jenson is after Mercedes,” adds Jennifer. “Gemma and Jenson are both dodgy with no limits to what they’d do… Even if Mercedes and Warren are pulled apart, there’d always be a way to reunite them.”
Indeed, fans of Mercedes and Warren can take comfort in the fact that, nearly 20 years on from their first hookup, and despite all the hellish experiences they’ve been through together, they’re currently stronger than ever.
And according to the actors, it’s all down to their characters’ similar personality traits, with Jamie explaining: “They just love each other and always gravitate back together. And regardless of how much drama is going on, they also like to have a bit of fun.”

“They know each other inside out and are properly themselves when it’s just the two of them,” continues Jennifer, who first played Mercedes in 2006.
“The masks are off and there’s no putting on any act. It’s two people with chemistry, love and history. Plus they know when to press the other one’s buttons,” she added.
