Coronation Street’s Sienna star had major role in iconic UK TV show
Sienna Milburn has been appearing on Coronation Street for a year now, though she initially was just seen as Asha Alahan’s (Tanisha Gorey) tough mentor as she trained to become a paramedic.
Recently, though, Sienna’s presence has increased, as Asha planned a date with her.
Though things seemed to go well initially, Sienna had to scarper pretty quickly, leaving Asha pretty befuddled after their date had seemingly gone pretty well.
Then there was the ex-girlfriend of it all, when Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) caused a fat load of aggro when she accused Sienna of stealing her – super old school – pay packet and the two broke into a nasty argument, where Sienna branded Nina a ‘bitter ex’, with Nina feeling even more of a muppet when she later discovered her pay packet in a drawer.
This week, though, answers the question as to why she’s been so cagey with Asha: she’s struggling to manage her mum, Sadie’s (Elizabeth Rider) worsening dementia, and is in the process of exploring different care possibilities.
While fans have been getting used to having Sienna around more often, they’ve also been wondering…’where have I seen her before?!’ when it comes to actress, Charlotte Tyree.
As the question spilled out onto social media, one fan pointed out that, besides Coronation Street, Charlotte’s most high-profile role has been as Fay in the 2011 Channel 4 mini-series This Is England ’88, which was created by Shane Meadows.
Besides that role, Charlotte has appeared in the television shows: Still Open All Hours and The Long Shadow, while also notching a role in the film, The Pebble and the Boy.
On-stage appearances include: Sex with a Stranger, Blink by Phil Porter and Constellations.
She’s not the only actor within the plotline that’s been recognised for prior roles though, as Elizabeth Rider, who plays Sienna’s ailing mum, Sadie, has also been noted for her variety of roles, even tallying multiple roles within the same show!
Elizabeth had previously appeared on the cobbles a couple of times, with her first role coming 20 years ago in 2006 as Kathleen Gutteridge.
Kathleen was the biological mum of the dearly departed – and sadly missed – Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold), who she’d abandoned at birth. Following this, his birth father Fred Elliott (John Savident) was forced to hand him over to his aunty Beryl Peacock (Anny Tobin), who became his adoptive mum and raised him as her own.
Elizabeth turned up again, years later, as Genna, a social worker involved in the process of Les Battersby-Brown (Bruce Jones) adopting his step-son, Chesney (Sam Aston).
As Elizabeth undertakes her third Corrie role, it turns out this is nothing new for her, having previously played multiple roles in various other soap operas spanning the entirety of her long and impressive career.
She’s previously played four roles in The Bill as Tina Rogers, Josephine Eyre, Sarah Callaghan and Diane Silk, while also having two roles in Casualty as Cathy Malone and Bev Elliott, while also notching a super-impressive four roles in Holby City, playing as Linda Haywood, Annie Franklin, Carol Bennett and Polly Thomas.
She later had a ten episode run over four years in EastEnders as Nurse Jill Green, three roles in Doctors as Denise Roberts, Louise McBride and Lynette Driver, four roles in Emmerdale as Fiona MacPherson, an unnamed doctor, two different solicitor characters and the role of Sheila Hanson in Waterloo Road.
