Struggling Dylan makes admission with Bear forced to intervene in Emmerdale
After a turbulent year, it’s been all quiet on the Western Front for Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) and April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) in Emmerdale.
They’ve been trying to get on with life since the debacle with Ray (Joe Absolom) and Celia (Jaye Griffiths) has blown over, but they’re still quietly suffering.
Dylan, April, and Bear (Joshua Richards) had been involved in Ray’s human trafficking scheme for months and have each been left traumatised in their own way.
Things culminated into a showdown when Ray confronted Paddy in his house after Bear had escaped his clutches. He tried to kill Paddy, but Bear appeared and strangled Ray to death. Paddy and Dylan then helped hide the body.
It wasn’t long before the body was found – in the back of Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) van – and the three men were left fighting for their freedom despite being the victim of Ray’s awful outfit.
Paddy got a suspended sentence while Bear and Dylan were found not guilty. But just because the court case is over with no massive ramifications, doesn’t mean the three of them have been left totally free. Prisoners of their own minds, if you will.
Bear had his own sticky moment recently when he discovered Caleb was peddling knock off goods.
It sent him right back to being a slave on that farm, and with his own experience of the forced labour trade, Bear made no bones about the fact that Caleb must stop his support of the people trafficking outfit or he’d do something about it.
The shadow of Ray still lurks over them all, and Bear isn’t the only one who’s struggled since it came to a head.
Dylan confesses to April that he is struggling in the aftermath of everything. She urges him to see a counsellor, but he’s not initially in agreement.
It takes the words of a fellow sufferer to spur Dylan into action – Bear urges him to reach out to a counsellor.
Knowing how much his helped him – and ultimately saved Bear from prison, Dylan acts on his word and gets himself help. The light at the end of the tunnel is starting to shine much brighter as Dylan begins to look to the future.
