Coronation Street reveals shock arrest in Jake Windass story

His latest mischief sparks big trouble on the cobbles.

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street‘s Ollie Driscoll tries to play the hero next week, but he lives to regret his actions when he’s cuffed and accused of assaulting Jake Windass.

“Ollie gives chase when he thinks Jake has assaulted Christina in some way,” explains our cobbles insider. “But in his fury, he forces Jake to the ground using quite some force.

“Gary is horrified to see Ollie pinning his son to the ground. He thinks Ollie went too far, and it seems the police agree when Ollie is arrested right in the middle of the Rovers, in front of all the regulars!”

The drama comes after Christina has one too many in the pub as she’s drowning her sorrows over her fractured relationship with George. Tipsy, she topples over in the ginnel just as young Jake arrives.

Taking in the sight, he decides to cause some mischief as he empties his water bottle over Christina and films her on his phone. When Ollie sees Christina on the ground, he chases Jake in a fury. But is there another reason why he’s reacting so violently?

In the run-up to the altercation, Ollie’s already in a dark mood due to an argument with his dad. The pair have been at loggerheads over Ollie’s job at Speed Daal, with Ben thinking it’s disloyal to the family for Ollie to be working around the corner in what is basically a rival business.

Things boil over when Ben intercepts an influencer who’s on the way to review the restaurant and tempts him with the Rovers’ charms.

Then, when Alya Nazir shoots down Ollie’s ideas for the new menu at Speed Daal, the despondent chef feels he can’t win. And it’s just after this that Ollie stumbles upon the incident with Jake.

“Jake definitely isn’t the innocent in any of this, but Ollie massively overreacts,” points out our spy. “When it comes down to it, the whole thing is nothing more than an unfortunate misunderstanding over a teenager’s stupid behaviour.

“But when a grown man uses that much force on someone who is basically a child, questions will be asked…”

Later, Glenda and Christina try to reassure Ollie that he’s not to blame, but sadly the police think otherwise. And there’s worse to come after Ollie’s arrested – and discovers that if he’s found guilty, the crime could carry a custodial sentence!

As Ollie reels from this news, Jake is playing the innocent. Gary urges him to be honest, but as his son plays down his part in what went on, Gary chooses to believe him.

However, when Ben tells Gary that Ollie could end up behind bars, Jake overhears and is riddled with guilt. Will he speak up?

“This whole thing is spiralling out of control,” warns our insider.

“Even if Jake does admit he was more to blame than he’s letting on, will it change things when it comes to Ollie’s fate?”
