A major Serena development connects her to Jamie Tate as Emmerdale mystery deepens

Ah, it seems we can’t have nice things. Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) was delightful when she first arrived in Emmerdale, but now she’s settled into village life, her true self is starting to show – and it seems she’s in town to cause trouble for the Tates.

Last week, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) discovered that partner Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) had been injured as a result of getting hit by a trailer. The person who informed him of this incident was Serena, which left Aaron suspicious.

He was absolutely certain that Serena had set the entire thing up, and was following in the footsteps of John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who would also deliberately put people in danger because he enjoyed swooping in and saving them.

The situation was made even worse for her when Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) found pictures on Serena’s phone of her and John. The newbie previously stated that she hadn’t seen John in years, but the images proved she had seen him while he was on the run in 2025.

Serena clarified her connection to John yesterday. She explained to Robert and Aaron that her family didn’t think anything of it when John rocked up last December, but things changed when her mum saw him on the news.

Just like many of the other Emmerdale residents, she had fallen for John’s charm, and had to process that this side of him was a lie when his crimes were revealed.

Robert recognised this, and decided to let Serena stay. It was then confirmed that Serena was hiding another secret from the duo, as she was revealed to be the person who broke into Home Farm and stole a USB stick.

Her efforts to cover up what she’s really doing continued into today’s episode, as she got to work on a few jobs on the farm.

In the middle of a field, Serena deliberately damaged a fence because she needed an excuse to see Ross Barton (Michael Parr). Once he was there, Serena claimed that Kim Tate (Claire King) needed to give them money to install a new fence, and that they should go to Home Farm right now to see her.

Ross is attracted to Serena, and had absolutely no problem heading up there with her. When she arrived in the big house, Serena waited until she was alone and managed to hide the USB stick down the sofa.

As she snooped around, Serena picked up a photograph and believed it was a young Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). When Ross clarified that it’s actually Kim’s son Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln), Serena seemed particularly intrigued by him.

Ross gossiped about Jamie and revealed more about the dark things he was responsible for while living in the village. Serena lapped this information up.

Of course, this new face might just enjoy listening to someone spill the tea, but as she stole that USB stick from Home Farm, it suggests Serena is somehow connected to the family.

When Ross disappeared again, we saw Serena on the phone to someone, stating that she believes she’s got a way into Kim’s house.

Clearly intending on using Ross to her advantage, it seems this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Serena getting the lowdown on Tate based drama.

What is she up to?
