A very unexpected new couple confirmed in Coronation Street as Brian gets lucky

Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) lives a simple, quiet life in Coronation Street, which is why I was very shocked to discover that he will soon spend the night with *checks notes* the woman who killed her husband.
You’ll remember that Brian’s world used to be quite busy, as he worked as local teacher. In 2018, he was relentlessly bullied by deputy headteacher Phil, which resulted in Brian leaving the industry and becoming the new owner of The Kabin.
His most recent love interest storyline featured Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh). The two characters were previously in a relationship, but they split up around 2016.
When Julie returned to Weatherfield last year, she reconnected with Brian. Sadly, things came to an end when Julie died following her cancer diagnosis.

It becomes apparent that Brian is in search of a little bit of fun next week in the ITV soap.
In the pub, Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and Ollie Driscoll’s (Raphael Akuwudike) conversation suddenly comes to a halt because a dishevelled Brian is making his way down the stairs.
He is followed by Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) of all people, and her family is shocked to discover that she’s spent the night with Brian.
Clearly searching for something more, Brian quizzes Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) on how to woo Maggie.

Later, Eva tells Maggie that she’s really happy for her. Maggie ends up revealing that her night was underwhelming and won’t be repeated, but has no idea that Brian has arrived with flowers!
Towards the end of the week, Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Pregner) realises that Maggie is avoiding Brian.
It seems that things are over before they’ve even really begun but, given that Maggie pushed her husband down the stairs which resulted in his death, the universe is probably doing Brian a favour!
