Another twist? Coronation Street fans are certain that Sarah didn’t actually kill Theo

Just when you thought Coronation Street’s killer had finally been unmasked. Soap fans have a theory that Sarah Platt is just a scapegoat for the real murderer.
The cat is well and truly out of the bag.
After weeks of speculating, arrests and paranoid among our beloved Cobbles residents, the mystery of who bumped off the unspeakably evil Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) was finally revealed… and it was none other than Weatherfield’s original girl next door, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
This was a shocking reveal, mainly because Sarah was never included in the official suspect line-up.
The unusual suspects included: Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), who endured almost a year of horrific abuse and coercion at Theo’s hands, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), the adoptive daughter of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), who Theo left to die, Theo’s embittered ex-wife Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Todd’s father figure and his girlfriend Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins). Last but not least was Gary Windass (Mikey North), Theo’s bezzie mate and former employer, turned deadly nemesis.

Since the sinister scaffolder took that fatal whack to the noggin, every last one of the Killer Six have been grilled in the interview room by Weatherfield’s finest. but the spotlight of suspicion has shone particularly brightly on Gary.
The bad boy builder is no stranger to getting blood on his hands, having been both directly and indirectly responsible for two deaths during his stint on the Cobbles. He definitely hated Theo enough to do him in, after Sarah revealed that the man he’d laughed with, drank with and employed turned out to be something that Gary despised the most – a bully.
This is what led to Gary smashing up the monster’s van with a sledgehammer, only to hastily delete the CCTV footage when he realised just how guilty it made him look post-murder. His doting wife Maria (Samia Longchambon) gave him a false alibi and told the police they were spending some ‘special time’ together at the builder’s yard.
However, what Gary was actually doing that night was far more suspicious… and that’s where Sarah comes in.
It’s no secret that Gary and Sarah have a long and tortured romantic history on the Cobbles. Which is why it seemed awfully suspicious that the two old flames have been looking awfully cosy recently.

Maria smelled a rat, and so did Sarah’s boyfriend DS Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who just so happens to be an investigating officer in Theo’s murder, and he’s had Gary in his sights for a while.
All those suspicions and paranoia came pouring out in last night’s episode during the dinner party from hell, where Maria accused Sarah of doing the dirty with Gary in front of all their guests.
However, the truth was the only thing not on the menu. Because what we the audience now know that none of the dinner party guests do, is that Gary’s been sharing a secret with Sarah – but it’s not an affair.

On that fateful night, Sarah was lured to the flat by a concerning text from Todd’s Grimshaw’s phone, which of course turned out to be sent from a drunken Todd.
In a tense confrontation on the scaffolding, Theo goaded Sarah by bringing up Billy, the baby son she and Todd had lost as teenagers. He also made chilling remarks which heavily implied he had killed Todd. Terrified for her life, Sarah grabbed a heavy metal pipe and stuck Theo over the head, causing the abuser to lose his footing and fall to his death on the cobbles below.
Panicked, Sarah called the one man wit an experience of covering up dead bodies – Gary. Taking charge of this killer cover-up, he hid Theo’s corpse and used the villain’s phone to send messages, pulling a Weekend at Bernie’s by making it look like the monster was still alive and well. That was the secret. Gary wasn’t Sarah’s affair partner. He was her accomplice.
But fans aren’t convinced.
Taking to the Metro Soap Facebook page, diehard viewers shared their theories on last night’s episode and many came to a similar conclusion – Sarah didn’t really kill Theo, because someone else finished him off.’

‘Sarah didn’t kill him,’ One fan wrote. ‘if you look after it happened, when she leaves and its just Gary, Theo’s leg moves’
Another fan agreed, pointing out how Theo’s leg seemed to move as Gary was texting Danielle.
‘Gary text Danielle off Theo’s phone. She probably turned up’
‘Yep, Theo’s foot moved while he was texting Danielle.’ agreed another. ‘He will set her up as the killer’
One fan really had their detective hat on as they laid out the full theory.
‘Theo’s leg moved. They made a point to show it when Gary said to Sarah ‘are you sure he’s dead? But Gary used Theo’s phone to text Theo’s ex wife to meet Theo. But his ex wife said she’d never seen him and she’s had no contact with him. But Gary texted her off Theo’s phone. We haven’t had her flash back. Plus we haven’t seen George girlfriend’s (Christina) flashback either. I still say there’s a twist. Someone else did him in. Everyone had a run in with him that night.’
Yet another fan affirmed this, doubting that Sarah could successfully overwhelm a mountain of a man like Theo.
‘It seems unrealistic that Sarah could kill him as Theo could easily overpower her. Todd could never overpower Theo and he is bigger and stronger than Sarah who is very slim and only around 5ft 2.’
One fan simply wrote ‘Not guilty. More twist to the story.’
Corrie fans are often known to be ahead of the game with their wild theories that turn out to be true. Is this one of those times?
