EastEnders fan took a chance and DM-ed star – now they’re in love
‘You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take’ goes the saying, and former EastEnders star Danny Hatchard’s girlfriend is certainly proof that shooting your shot sometimes pays off!
Kerry Scouler, a successful model in her own right, decided to slide into Danny’s DMs after taking to his ‘Enders character, Lee, and her pro-active strike definitely paid off.
The DM led to ongoing communication between them, which ultimately blossomed into a relationship that’s lasted for six years and counting.
Taking to their shared TikTok, on which they post skits and trends, Kerry uploaded a video of her approaching Danny for a cuddle, with the text: ‘me when I messaged Lee Carter from EastEnders cos I fancied him & we’re still together 6 years later’ spread across the screen.
She captioned the clip: ‘And that’s on manifestation ladies’.
Kerry had previously hard launched their relationship with a snap of herselfand Danny, taken during a holiday in Cyprus in December 2020, which showed the loved-up duo sharing a snuggle in a boat and captioned: ‘Truly blessed by you.’
While they remained relatively low-key in the following years, they created joint social media accounts in July on both TikTok and Instagram, sharing comedy sketches about their life as a couple, with the bio: ‘Two plonkers plonking.’
It’s not been the only update from Danny, who recently revealed that he’d changed his professional name from ‘Danny-Boy’ to simply ‘Danny’.
‘My name is Danny Hatchard. My real name is Danny-Boy Hatchard, but I decided to change it because I’m getting a little bit older now, and I felt like the ‘boy’ needed to go.’
The update came shortly before Danny had taken to TikTok to talk more about his experience in the acting industry in a much-praised clip.
Speaking candidly, he said: ‘I’ll tell you something, this acting game’s hard.
‘I’ve been, I’ve been in this business for 13 years now, and on the surface, it looks like I’m a raging success and everything’s going smashing.
‘And don’t get me wrong, I’m very, very, very proud of my list of credentials on TV and theatre. But the gaps in between…there’s still a ton of rejection. It’s incredibly competitive and it is not for the weak.
‘The only reason why I carry on doing this is because it’s a need, not a want. I don’t wake up in the morning and want to be an actor, I wake up in the morning and I need to be an actor, I need to be creative. It’s like I’m in a constant state of having creative blue balls.
‘And don’t get me wrong, it is tiring, and I’m just on here to have a rant, but if you are thinking about being an actor, only think about being an actor if you feel like it’s a need, not a want, because I genuinely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.’
Danny had previously spoken to The Mirror regarding then-EastEnders executive producer, Sean O’Connor’s decision to axe him.
‘It was his decision and I had to respect that just in terms of how my storyline came to an end. That is just the way it is.
‘It was a comfortable job but it is like a revolving door that place, as people do come and go and things change.
‘It is like a chocolate factory and we bang out scenes like no tomorrow. We have a responsibility and we have to make sure it is done right. You can’t really let your hair down.
‘My concern was that staying in one place too long does not help you to grow as an individual and it does not allow you to reinvent yourself and that is what is important.
‘I had a life outside EastEnders, and there are some people in EastEnders who let it consume them. I was very serious about it and I enjoyed every second of it but it was just time for me to go. I guess now I will never be typecast.’
