EastEnders fans terrified Kat will leave soap as Jessie Wallace makes telling move
EastEnders fans are worried that Kat Slater is set to leave the soap alongside her daughter Zoe, as actress Jessie Wallace made a telling move following news of Michelle Ryan's exit
After the news Michelle Ryan is leaving EastEnders sent shock waves through fans, viewers are now terrified another star will leave the show. This comes as Jessie Wallace, who plays Kat Slater, unfollowed executive Ben Wadey on Instagram.
Ryan’s exit from the soap is rumoured to have come after she was denied some time off. The star is thought to have quit the show and her character, Zoe Slater, is reportedly set to be killed off. A spokesperson confirmed Ryan was leaving, but not why and how her character will be written out of the soap.
But fans are not only convinced that Zoe will die, but that her death will have huge consequences for her family, potentially causing her mum, Kat, to also leave the show.
One fan took to X with pictures of the Wikipedia pages for both Kat, played by Wallace, and her grandmother Mo Harris, played by Laila Morse. They said they had a “cruel feeling” about what was going to happen, as under ‘duration’ it only listed the two as lasting until 2026.
Speculation ramped up after another fan noticed that Wallace was no longer following Ben Wadey on Instagram. They posted this on X and fans rushed to the comments to share how scared they were of Kat leaving.
One fan said: “I hope this is just out of anger and nothing more. We can’t lose her.” Another added that it seemed like it was the “beginning of the end”. A third fumed: “He’s destroying our stalwarts.”
A fourth posted a gif of The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) breathing into a paper bag to stop himself from hyperventilating, and captioned the pic with: “Me at the thought of losing Kat Slater”.
More added that they felt unfollowing him was Wallace’s way of showing her upset at whatever happened to cause Ryan to quit and her intention to walk away too.
Kat has been a staple of EastEnders since she and the rest of the Slaters were introduced in 2000. Since joining the show, Kat has been caught in several love triangles, married Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) multiple times and revealed that her ‘sister’ Zoe was really her daughter.
The moment Zoe discovered her true parentage has gone down as one of the most iconic moments in EastEnders history, with many quoting Zoe as she screamed: “You can’t tell me what to do, you ain’t my mother” and Kat shouting back: “Yes I am.”
Currently Kat and her husband, Alfie, are the owners of The Queen Vic, though some have speculated that they will lose the pub by the end of the year, as the New Year flashforward to 2027 was careful not to say who owned it at that point.
