Hollyoaks star looks unrecognisable as she reveals new gripping role

Emma Rigby will portray a real-life killer.

Hollyoaks star Emma Rigby is set to star in a “gripping” new thriller based on a real-life murder. Known for playing Hannah Ashworth on the soap, the actor will portray Tracie Andrews in Suspect: The Road Rage Killer.

The Channel 5 drama follows the case of Lee Harvey, who was claimed by fiancée Andrews to have been killed in a road rage incident on a country lane in 1996. However, as police investigated the murder, suspicion began to fall on Andrews, who was eventually convicted of his murder.

The new true crime project is a one-off 90-minute drama, and is described as “a gripping psychological crime thriller told through first-hand accounts, police records, archive transcripts, and reconstructed memories”.

“Immersing the viewer in the pivotal hours of a murder investigation and witnessing Tracie’s transformation from victim to suspect,” it adds, “this tense drama explores how truth fractures under pressure, and how memory, trauma and the desire for control can distort reality.”

In first-look stills from The Road Rage Killer, viewers can see Rigby’s transformation into the role, as the character is questioned by police.

Alongside the Hollyoaks star, the drama stars Guy Amos as Harvey, The Witcher‘s Jo Marriott as Maureen Harvey, Believe Me‘s Laurence Saunders as Ian Johnstone, and Shelter‘s Tomi May as Brian Russell.

Michael Barrymore: The Rise & Fall of Mr Saturday Night‘s Grant Armour is writing and directing the drama, which is due to air this month.

This is the latest one-off Channel 5 film following a true crime case after Under Suspicion: Kate McCann, which aired back in May.

The film focuses on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and an 11-hour interview with her mother, who was told she would be officially named as a suspect. Kate McCann has never been formally accused of wrongdoing regarding her daughter’s disappearance.
