Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins has been speaking about when she’d like to return to the ITV soap.

The actress, who is 32, left her role as Victoria Sugden earlier this year to have a baby.

In order to facilitate Isabel’s maternity leave, Victoria left the Dales for a new life abroad with son Harry.

Isabel gave birth to her first baby called Georgie Grace in February. The star posts regular life updates on her Instagram, recently sharing a number of snaps from the family holiday she went on with her daughter and partner Adam.

When Victoria left the village, she told her brother Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) that she would be back. Recently, actress Isabel Hodgins discussed the prospect of returning to the show, and said that she’d need to find a way to juggle work and life as a new mum when the time comes.

‘I will need to find a way to manage that. For 20 years, work has been my priority’, the actress said while speaking to Danny Miller and Nigel Clucas on the podcast You Don’t Know You’re Born.

Isabel added that becoming a parent totally ‘flipped [her] way of thinking’.

‘To be honest, I still don’t know when I’m going back. In my ideal world, it would be September. And then it’s all systems go. [That’s when] it really starts with the juggling and potential mum guilt, and whatever.’

Isabel also reflected on the conversation she had with Emmerdale producers about her maternity leave.

‘It was very much at my discretion how much [time] I wanted off’.

Isabel thought that she’d be working until the start of 2026, but show bosses informed her that she’d be finished with her final scenes before Christmas.

‘It was mid-December. But in hindsight they did me a favour. The drive, Manchester to Leeds, it was killing me a bit’.
Isabel’s Emmerdale character left the Dales after being blackmailed by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).

The troublesome character managed to secure the Sugden farmland from Vic and Robert because he used proof of Vic killing John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) to his advantage.

Haunted by so many bad memories, Vic chose to leave with son Harry, starting her life again abroad.
