Coronation Street Idris Nazir star’s forgotten role in Game of Thrones
Coronation Street Idris Nazir star Junade Khan recently made his debut on the cobbles but he has some impressive past roles
Coronation Street newcomer Idris Nazir has taken centre stage recently on the ITV soap.
Idris, portrayed by Junade Khan, first appeared on the cobbles back in May as the latest addition to the Nazir family. He has wasted little time in embarking on a romance with Leanne Battersby and bringing Brody Michaelis into his business fold.
In this week’s episodes, Idris has faced mounting criticism after Abi Webster discovered he was her landlord and had been avoiding her calls.
Matters have deteriorated further following the discovery of black mould in young Alfie’s bedroom, resulting in the tot being rushed to A&E.
With Idris now firmly in the spotlight on the cobbles, soap fans have been keen to learn more about actor Junade’s, 44, life beyond the ITV programme.
Prior to Coronation Street, Junade has a series of impressive TV credits to his name, including Game of Thrones and Emmerdale.
Junade played a Dothraki Bloodrider for three episodes in hit HBO series Game of Thrones back in 2016. At the time, the actor shared lots of behind-the-scenes snaps from his time filming.
Other roles include Ash Roy in Hollyoaks from 2008 to 2009, DS Khan in BBC series Better and DS Matthews in Emmerdale last year.
However, Junade isn’t the only famous person in his family. Junade is married to wife Gem, and the pair recently marked their tenth wedding anniversary. Gem works as a presenter and singer, and runs PopGems Academy alongside Junade – an award-winning performing arts school.
The couple share two young children – a daughter named Alara-Star and a son called Pacino. Both of Junade’s youngsters have followed in their famous father’s footsteps and are working as child actors.
Speaking ahead of his cobbles debut earlier this year, the actor said: “My mum and mother-in-law watch Coronation Street avidly, so they’re very excited.
“And my kids are actually on screen more than me! My daughter worked with Angelina Jolie in a film called Anxious People and did a Ridley Scott film, and my little boy has done a Marvel film and Waffle the Wonder Dog. So now there’s me in Corrie – it’s all good!”.
