EastEnders confirms horrific Joel discovery in aftermath of brutal attack
The mystery deepens.
EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders has confirmed that some Walford residents will make a horrific discovery in the aftermath of Joel Marshall’s brutal attack. This week, the group of teens came together to carry out a sinister revenge plot on Joel, who recently returned to the Square after a short stretch in young offenders.
To make him pay for his horrible crimes, the teens locked Joel to a railing and poured beer over him. But later the group discovered that he’d been set free – before being hit over the head and left for dead.

As the police arrived unexpectedly and Joel was rushed to hospital, the teens gave statements about the evening’s events. But later, Harry Mitchell retrieved a hammer for his little brother Barney – is this the weapon used to attack Joel, and is Barney responsible?
It may be a while before we find out, as new spoilers reveal that next week, Joel wakes up in hospital with no memory of the attack. When Ross hears that the teens have given corroborating statements, he pushes his son for answers, but Joel insists he doesn’t remember who hit him.
Vicki is on hand to support heartbroken Ross, and she sends him home from hospital before plucking up the courage to visit Joel alone for the first time.
Back on the Square, Ross finds the teens discussing the investigation and demands the truth. Jean Slater arrives and jumps to Lily Slater’s defence, but she learns something horrifying about the situation.
When Ross goes back to hospital, he gets good news and finds out that Joel will be discharged from hospital. Vicki is conflicted about what to do next but eventually offers to let the teen move back in with them, despite Joel’s heinous attack on her last year.

Meanwhile, Jean tells Jack Branning what she’s discovered, and they decide to tell the other parents, as they don’t believe that their kids are responsible for Joel’s awful injury.
As Joel wraps his head around Vicki’s surprising offer, he returns to Walford – but he is left worried when he realises that Amy Mitchell, Avani Nandra-Hart and the others are watching him.
The group of friends are suspicious and question one another about what happened, but no one confesses to attacking Joel. When Priya and Ravi question Avani and Nugget themselves, Priya finds out that Joel has requested to stick around permanently on the Square – though Avani’s opinion about this will be taken into consideration.
As the teens continue to make it clear to Joel that he isn’t welcome, he reaches out to Avani and begs her to let him stay. What will Avani decide?
