Emmerdale star confirms exit amid sex assault story – and she goes very soon

Emmerdale’s Angela Lonsdale has confirmed her final scenes will air this week in the ITV soap.
Angela, who has featured in shows including Coronation Street, Doctors and BBC One’s Our Girl, made her arrival to Emmerdale in June 2026 as DS Reid.
After Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was sexually assaulted by Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker), she made her way to the police station to report the crime. It was there she met Angela’s character DS Reid, who gently questioned Charity about the ordeal.
The next day, the copper visited the village to bring Caitlin to the police station. During the interview, Caitlin denied the claims that Charity had made against her, and stated that they had consensual sex.
Because of the lack of evidence, Dr Todd was let go, and left the Dales a few hours later to move to Sheffield.

We’ve seen DS Reid quite a few times since then, as she’s also been trying to collect enough proof to back up Charity’s comments about Dr Todd blackmailing her.
Earlier this week, the detective was back in the village with an update. She informed Charity and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) that the CPS will be dropping the case against Dr Todd, due to lack of evidence.
While that update marked a significant turning point in the storyline, it also signalled the beginning of the end for DS Reid.
Actress Angela Lonsdale recently took to her Instagram to confirm the news her final scenes as Reid will air this week.
Sharing a lovely montage of clips behind the scenes at Emmerdale, Angela wrote in the caption:
‘What an honour and a privilege to play DS REID and be trusted with such a sensitive story line. Working alongside the phenomenally talented @missemmaatkins @missmichellehardwick @lawrencejarobb and Caroline was one of the highlights of my career. Absolutely loved working with you @beckywildtv @kfgdirector #ldavidbeauchamp #atemkuol.
She added: ‘Thankyou to my dearest friend @scottbeszick, mags and all the incredible and gorgeous hair and make up team. Ian @gxstevenson and all the fabulous costume dept.
‘The cast and crew made me feel part of the family from day one ! Will miss you all. Final Episodes air this week.
‘Big thanks as always to my wonderful agents Kev and Sam @angelandfrancis #Dsreid #emmerdale #itv.’

Viewers know that Dr Todd won’t go to prison for her crimes, as a flashforward sequence aired that confirmed she will actually be killed by someone.
The only thing we know right now is that Caitlin will end up on the floor lying in a pool of her own blood.
The list of potential suspects features names including Charity, Mackenzie and Vanessa, though fans of the show know Emmerdale often delivers plot twists in whodunnits, meaning Todd’s killer could end up being someone very surprising.
