‘Guinea pig’ Emmerdale star Danny Miller confirms surprise Strictly update
Anyone ever wanted to see Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle doing the pasa doble? No? Just me? Well, according to actor Danny Miller, I might just be getting my wish…
The Emmerdale star hinted that fans could expect to see him on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing during a recent interview on the Live, Laugh, Luke Podcast with Luke Hamnett.
Guest starring on the podcast alongside fellow soap star Brooke Vincent – who is currently playing villain Abigail Matthews in Hollyoaks – Luke quizzed Daniel about his stint on The Celebrity Apprentice.
Because the Apprentice is a BBC show, Luke noted that there was a time where ITV soap stars had extremely limited options regarding appearances on other programmes, particularly those on a rival channel.
Danny shared his experience approaching the BBC about taking his place in that famous boardroom, sitting opposite
I asked if I could it. They want to change it basically because Netlix prime, all them, they’re taking over and they want to collaborate a bit more. I asked could I do the Apprentice and they said ‘let us look at it’. I asked out of pure courtesy obviously, and they gave me three weeks off to do it.’
They said ”the top dog at ITV’s okayed it because they’re using you as a guinea pig to see if it works. That’s a compliment I think. Fine. I did it.’
When Luke wondered if committing so much time to another show would affect his role at Emmerdale, Danny was quick to put the record straight.
‘I’m under contract so it’s irrelevant. It’s like a united player playing for Man city. It just wouldn’t ever happen really.’
Then Luke asked the question on everyone’s lips (well, mine anyway).
‘Do you reckon you could ever do Strictly?’
The response Danny gave was cryptic, non-committal, and intriguing. ‘I believe they are talking about the possibilities of that.’
Is that a yes? Not according to Brooke Vincent, who was quick to throw cold water on Danny’s Strictly dreams by pointing out a teensy problem.
‘You can’t dance.’
Danny couldn’t argue with that. ‘Correct’. He said.
So far, this year’s Strictly Line up is packed with celebrities including presenter of Channel 5’s Dog’s Behaving (Very) Badly Graeme ‘The Dogfather’ Hall, former Three Lions footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, House of The Dragon star Bethany Antonia, film actress Jaime Winstone, paralympian athlete Sarah Storey, Big Brother presenter Will Best, Love Island winner Cach Mercer, hair stylist to the stars Chris Appleton, singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem, EastEnders’ favourite Lacey Turner, and reality TV sensation Dani Dyer.
Were Danny to make it onto this year’s roster, he would not be the only resident of the Dales in the mix. Actor and Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb), who plays Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) long suffering husband Mackenzie Boyd, will be joining the celebrity cast of 2026.

Since joining the series six years ago, Lawrence has been at the centre of many of the show’s most explosive and talked-about storylines – affairs, kidnap, murder, and this year’s landmark Coronation Street crossover series, Corriedale.
Lawrence is no stranger to fancy footwork. Before arriving in the Dales, his TV and stage credits include I Hate Suzie opposite Billie Piper, Legally Blonde The Musical, and Mojo in the West End.
Lawrence spoke out on his upcoming Strictly Debut: ‘I don’t know who’s more excited about this, me or my Mother. I can’t quite believe that I am going to be getting my dancing shoes on this September on one of my favourite shows of all time! It’s a dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring my all to ballroom. Wish me luck, and any advice is very welcome – trust me I’ll need it!’
