Kev in tears in Emmerdale over life destroying tragedy

Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) rocked up to the Emmerdale village recently and claimed to everyone that he was a changed man. For someone who spent years behind bars, and previously held three men hostage with a sword, it was a bit hard to believe.
However, scenes in today’s episode may indicate that he’s telling the truth.
Ever since he returned, Kev has been focused on trying to prove to biological son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) that they should have a relationship.
Lewis, who was brought up by his adopted parents, made it clear to Kev that he wasn’t interested in getting to know him. He shared a couple of days ago that he was off to Cleethorpes to see his mum and dad, and wanted Kev gone by the time he got back.
Kev has shown absolutely no intention of going. He’s been busy running his bakery van right outside the cafe, which has annoyed Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) greatly.
Lewis was back in the village in the latest instalment, and quickly discovered that Kev was still hanging around.
He hopped out of his bakery van and made it clear to Lewis that he had a surprise for him. To everyone’s shock, Kev then revealed that he had changed the name of his van to Barton’s Cake Tin.
He made a comment about how he’s a Barton now, and Lewis was quick to correct him. It turns out Kev was right though, as he confirmed that he has legally changed his name to Kevin Barton.
Confused, Lewis headed home.
He was then treated to a visit by Kev, who quite often forgets how to knock on someone’s front door.
Kev really wanted the opportunity to explain why he changed his name, and kind-hearted Lewis decided to give it to him.
He explained that when he was a teenager, his family’s world fell apart when his dad left them. As a result, they discovered he was drowning in debt, and it was up to them to try and clear it.
Kev turned to the world of crime to try and help his family put food on the table. His dad’s reputation meant people heard Kev was a Townsend, and assumed the worst about him.
Kev didn’t want the same thing to happen to Lewis, so he decided to change his name to try and prevent him from facing the Townsend impact.
The tears in Kev’s eyes meant Lewis knew that it was taking a lot for him to be this honest. They sat down with a cup of tea after, and even went to the pub that evening with Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).
Nicola and Ross Barton (Michael Parr) are not happy with Lewis giving Kev a chance. They both believe that it won’t be long until Kev slips up and leaves Lewis devastated.
The risk of this happening increased as the episode drew to a close, as we saw someone robbing the cafe.
Kev will be accused of stealing the money, but he works hard to try and convince Lewis that he’s innocent.
But did he do it?
Something that’s worth noting is that Kev had absolutely no problem giving Lewis some money for more drinks while they were at the Woolpack. If Kevhad made a comment about how he’s broke, he could’ve easily been tempted to steal from the cafe.
Has someone framed Kev in an attempt to get rid of him?
