The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Coronation Street dated August 21. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.

Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) received some good news in Coronation Street today ahead of her exit from the show.

Lately, the character has been feeling a little bit stuck in Weatherfield. She works at the café with her uncle Roy Cropper (David Neilson), often hangs out with the likes of Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), but Nina reached the conclusion recently that she wanted more from her life.

After attending an interview at an art gallery in Whitby, Nina told Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) and Roy in today’s episode that she isn’t sure if she did particularly well.

Later that day, Nina and Asha were in the Rovers when Nina received a message on her phone. Sensing that it was from the art gallery, Nina couldn’t bring herself to discover her fate, so Asha did it for her.

It was very wonderful news for the character, as it turns out Nina absolutely slayed her interview, and the boss wants her to start as soon as possible.

A new adventure waits for Nina, but how will Roy adapt to not having her around?

Nina was introduced to us in 2019 after Roy learned that he had a long-lost brother named Richard and a niece named Nina who he knew nothing about.

After Richard died, Nina came to live with Roy on the eponymous Street and soon began working in the local café, where she became a staple of the cobbles for seven years.

In real life, Mollie has already settled into her next role. She is currently touring the UK with the cast of Silence of The Lambs.

Mollie plays Clarice Starling in the production, the brilliant but troubled FBI agent who must work with cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter to bring another murderer to justice.
