Tragic Coronation Street couple reunited in delightful update
We love a Coronation Street reunion, especially when it involves a couple whose story ended in absolutely devastating circumstances.
On this occasion, it’s actors Rob Mallard and Katie McGlynn, whose characters Daniel Osbourne and Sinead Tinker shared a tragic love story that came to a heartbreaking end with Sinead’s death.
In 2018, their relationship was steady, with Daniel having proposed in the summer. When Sinead later revealed that she was pregnant, they were both overjoyed.
However, Sinead began to suffer worrying symptoms, and was later diagnosed with cervical cancer. Terrified of how treatment would affect her unborn baby, she decided to forego chemotherapy.
In January 2019, the decision was taken out of her hands when she was told that her cancer had spread, and she would need to be induced to undergo an aggressive form of chemotherapy.
Their son, Bertie Osbourne, was born prematurely but in good health, while Sinead suffered complications and needed surgery.
On October 25, 2019, Sinead sadly died, sending Daniel into a spiral of grief.
Now, Rob and Katie have taken to social media to share pictures from a recent reunion.
In one selfie, they’re smiling in the Manchester sun, while in the second they’re sharing a kiss on the cheek.
‘Sinead and Daniel reunited… I’ve missed my onscreen hubby,’ Katie wrote in the caption, adding: ‘So good to finally catch up.’
The snaps brought immense joy to fans of the ITV soap, with one commenting: ‘Oh my gosh, it’s wonderful to see you both together again.’
‘Loved this couple,’ another wrote, while a third added: ‘Even more adorable in real life… you pair.’
Daniel has been pretty unlucky in love since losing Sinead, having had complicated relationships with Daisy Midgeley and Bethany Platt.
Most recently, he was horrified to learn that his latest girlfriend, fellow teacher Megan Walsh, had been grooming one of her students.
Since Sinead’s death, actress Katie has appeared in several TV series, including The Syndicate and Hollyoaks.
Recently, she has been making guest appearances as a DJ at events.
