EastEnders to bring back Janine Butcher after four years away
Watch out Walford…
EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders star Charlie Brooks is making a shocking return to the show after nearly four years away, reports have revealed.
The fan favourite is being tipped to reprise her role as Janine Butcher for a dramatic storyline that will air in the autumn.

According to The Sun, Janine is coming back to EastEnders as a guest for a couple of episodes and will cause chaos for Walford’s residents once again.
However, further details are being kept under wraps at this early stage to avoid spoiling storylines.
Digital Spy reached out to EastEnders over the news, but the show declined to comment.
Janine was last seen in December 2022, when Charlie bowed out following a third stint in the show.
In April 2023, it was revealed that Janine had been sentenced to five years behind bars in an off-camera court hearing. She’d committed various crimes in the year prior, including her role in causing Mick Carter’s disappearance at sea in a terrifying car accident.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain earlier this month, Charlie confirmed that she’d always be open to revisiting Janine for the right storyline.
“I get asked this question all the time, I love Janine, I love playing her. She’s a wonderful character, I always get blessed with such great storylines,” she said.
“So who knows? It’s always a home from home at EastEnders.”
On Janine’s habit of worming her way out of trouble, Charlie added: “She should have had her proper comeuppance shouldn’t she? She should be dead or…”
A more regular return for Janine seems to be off the cards for now, as Charlie is about to go on tour with the stage adaptation of Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Charlie is playing the role of Judy in the show, which opens at the Birmingham Rep in September before touring until the end of May next year.
