As Coronation Street continues its morph into Orange is the New Platt, colloquially known as Prisoner: Cell Block Platt, Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) nightmare stay in the clink looks set to get even worse.

You’d think that when living on a street like Coronation Street, a spell behind bars would be like a spa retreat.

Not for Sarah, though, who’s having a hellish experience behind bars after the police finally figured out that she’d murdered Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), bashing him over the bonce and watching as he tumbled to the street below the scaffolding they were precariously standing on.

Where did Sarah turn after she offed thuggish Theo? Not to her copper boyfriend, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), that’s for sure! No, she needed someone a bit rougher round the edges, and she called on Gary Windass (Mikey North), who’d previous disposed of a villain and gotten away with it.

Of course, being locked together by such a dark secret didn’t come without it’s issues and before long, what with all of their whispering in dark corners, both Kit and Gary’s wife, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) were convinced that they were sharing more than conversation after dark in the builder’s yard.

When Kit learned the truth after an attempted proposal went drastically wrong, he tried everything to pin the killing on Gary, who’d become his arch nemesis at this point, but it was to no avail: Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) arrested Sarah and told Kit to stop sticking his beak in to try and save Sarah, or his career would be on the line.

Kit hasn’t, and continues to blackmail Gary having discovered where he disposed of the weapon that Sarah wrapped around Theo’s head, while inside, Sarah’s faced the wrath of a couple of prison bullies, and is sporting a mashed up face to prove it.

Still, at least she’s got her new mate Kacey (Emma Matthews), right? Remember that name…

This week sees Sarah determined to set Kit free from her mess, and she breaks up with him, reasoning that she can’t be the reason his career – and life – epically falls apart, shattering his already fragile heart into pieces.

Next week, Sarah finds herself regretting the dumping, when Kacey arrives in her cell, sobbing about her son being arrested for armed robbery. Knowing that Sarah’s – now ex – boyfriend is a copper, she wants her to ask him for help. When Sarah refuses, Kacey turns nasty and threatens her.

Explaining her situation to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), he tells her straight: ask Kit for help, or he will. She acquiesces and summons Kit for a visit, asking for his help, but he refuses, leaving her to face violence from an incensed Kacey, who later makes it clear that should her son face further legal trouble, she’ll be holding Sarah personally responsible.

Looks like our Sarah is in for a fresh set of bruises, doesn’t it?!
